Of course, most people have not been able to travel to London for over 2 years.  In a few countries, local travel restrictions still apply. But most have lifted them, especially for fully vaccinated travellers.

Related to changes in travel restrictions, apartments in London had their strongest November and December in 2021 ever.  I don’t just mean London Choice Apartments but all professional apartment companies across the capital.  That pace picked up again for April 2022 and continues through the Summer.

Two factors are driving this: one being that people have not been able to visit this global city – one of the world’s most visited destinations before the pandemic – for so long.  The second being that the privacy, space and much greater facilities of apartments are seen as a safer bet than sharing the many communal areas of a hotel.  Apartments have really come into their own during and after the main impact of the pandemic.

In part, when it’s a good time to come to London is going to be dictated by your own circumstances.  To give you some guide for London Choice Apartments: it depends on your planned length of stay.  For example, we still have a few periods of 2 to 5 nights in May and in June – so if you are only planning a short stay, you should be able to find suitable dates there.  One point you may want to consider is that it is probably going to be harder to find an apartment than a flight, so you may want to book the apartment first and then find a flight that works with those dates, rather than the other way around.  If your dates are dictated by flights you have booked, you may find it difficult to locate an apartment that is available for your dates.

In July there are still some longer stays available in Two Bedroom Apartments with the same being available in Three Bedroom Apartments in August.  If you are planning a longer stay in the Autumn, September shows good availability for One and Two Bedroom Apartments but not Three Bedroom Apartments.  October and November offer much more availability for Three Bedroom Apartments.

Looking beyond that, November is still a long way ahead and, at the moment, looks calmer in 2022 than it was in 2021.  However, if you are planning a Christmas or New Year stay, then the time to book that is now, if possible.  Lastly, if you are counting on last-minute cancellations, we are not really seeing that happen to any large extent and what does come available is usually quickly booked.

We don’t want to disappoint you, so the general rule of thumb is that the sooner you book, the better your chances of finding the kind of apartment that you want.  I have described the situation as it is at the time of writing, but it is constantly changing.  We look forward to welcoming you in 2022 and beyond!
